Your UPI payment link
This is exactly what the QR contains. Paste it in a chat or on your website.
upi://pay?pa=yourname@upi&pn=yourname&cu=INR
This QR pays straight into your own UPI ID. It doesn't replace a bank-issued merchant QR: no soundbox alerts, no settlement reports. Scan it once with your own phone before you put it out.

How a UPI QR code works
A UPI QR is a picture of a short link that starts with upi://pay. It carries your UPI ID (pa), the name to show (pn) and the currency (cu=INR), and optionally a fixed amount (am) and a note (tn). Any UPI app (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM or your bank's app) reads it, shows the payer your name, and asks them to enter or confirm the amount and their UPI PIN. The money lands in the bank account linked to your UPI ID.
Is it safe to put my UPI QR on the counter?
Yes. A static QR can only receive money. Nobody can pull money out of your account by scanning it, and every payment needs the payer's own UPI PIN. What you should never do is scan someone else's QR or enter your PIN to “receive” money: receiving never needs a PIN. Check the name your customers see after scanning, and stick the card down or laminate it so nobody can paste their own QR over yours.
Personal QR or merchant QR?
This tool makes a personal QR for your own UPI ID: perfect for a small shop, a tuition class, a tiffin service or collecting society dues. A merchant QR from your bank or from PhonePe, Paytm or Google Pay for Business is linked to a registered merchant account. It adds a soundbox, daily settlement reports and a higher daily limit. If customers pay you many times a day, ask your bank for one. Your personal UPI ID usually has a daily limit set by your bank.
Printing tips
A6 (postcard size) fits a counter stand, A5 a wall or a till, A4 a shop window. Print at 100% scale (turn off “fit to page”), on thick paper or card, and laminate it. Keep the white border around the QR: scanners need it. Test-scan the printout with two different apps before you use it. Need a GST bill for the sale? Make one here.
